Group Exhibition III

January 2022 April 2022

502 Bedford Street, Fall River, MA

"Group Exhibition III" delved into the historical and cultural connections between Fall River and New York City, featuring works from various artists. Curated by Brittni Ann Harvey and Harry Gould Harvey IV, the exhibition explored the rich interplay between the two cities. In the main gallery, paintings and three-dimensional works by Kathleen White and Rafael Sanchez were displayed. Notably, their works were also featured in New York's Martos Gallery in an exhibition titled "Earth Work" from February 1st to March 19th, 2022. Rooted in the urban landscape of New York City, their art addressed themes of grief, mortality, and caregiving, reflecting the era of the AIDS crisis and post 9/11.

To enhance the interactive nature of the exhibition, Fall River high school students were invited to write and share poetry in response to White and Sanchez’s show, adding a community engagement aspect to the event. The third part of the FR MoCA exhibition, "Flame of Love," showcased artworks by Bella Carlos, Dorothy Carlos, Tom Forkin, Christopher K. Ho, Brian Oakes, Tim Simonds, and Marisa Takal. These exhibitions not only displayed diverse artistic expressions but also facilitated a dialogue between the histories and cultures of two cities, providing insight into the younger geneation's interpretation of art and its themes.
